GTN News is the name of the news department shared by three Gainesville, Florida television outlets owned or operated by New Age Media: WGFL (CBS), WMYG-LP (MyNetworkTV) and WNBW-DT (NBC). The newscasts are produced in Davenport, Iowa by Independent News Network (INN), from its studios in Davenport. The "GTN" acronym means "Gainesville Television Network". ==Background== Originally, WCJB-TV was the only commercial station operating a Gainesville-based news department. As a result, it has held the number one spot in Nielsen ratings by a wide margin for the station's entire existence. (WUFT television also airs a nightly newscast, but it airs on a non-commercial, public television station and features University of Florida journalism and broadcasting students as its staff.) In March 1998, Fox affiliate WOGX began simulcasting newscasts from sister station WOFL in Orlando. As a semi-satellite of the latter, most local broadcasts are seen; however, there are no separate local inserts and/or segments targeted specifically to the Gainesville and Ocala areas. Even after WGFL joined CBS, the station did not establish its own news operation; rather, it chose to simulcast WTEV-TV's nightly newscast at 11:00 from Jacksonville, which offered no coverage of North-Central Florida other than including the area when covering headlines from the state as a whole. Eventually, this station dropped WTEV's show in favor of nationally syndicated news weeknights at 11:00. Produced in Davenport by INN, the show was known as ''INN News'' and was presented in a format similar to national nightly news seen on the big three networks. On December 31, 2008, it was announced that INN filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and was to end all news productions, including its national show, by January 9, 2009. However, the national news on WGFL were quickly resumed following INN's acquisition by Fusion Communications of Davenport. It would not be until October 27, 2010 when this station expanded its outsourcing agreement with the Independent News Network to produce weeknight local newscasts in high definition. The launch of WGFL's own news department in partnership with INN is an attempt to offer a second choice of broadcasts other than WCJB. As part of the arrangement, newscasts are also produced for WNBW and WMYG. On weeknights, WGFL simulcasts with WNBW at 5:30, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m.; the 11:00 p.m. newscast can be delayed on either station due to network obligations. WGFL and WNBW also simulcasts local news and weather cut-ins on weekday mornings during their network national shows. WMYG offers local news at 10:00 p.m. Although news anchors, meteorologists, and sports anchors are provided by the centralized news service, the reporters are all based in the Gainesville area. On weekends,''GTN News Extra'' used to provide a weekly summary of headlines from Gainesville and Ocala. The show aired several times throughout the weekend and was taped in advance. Although it was New Age Media's official first venture into local news production, the company's Fox affiliates have been airing outsourced broadcasts produced by other stations through news share agreements.〔http://www.mygtn.tv/Global/story.asp?S=13397564〕〔http://www.mygtn.tv/Global/story.asp?S=12760892〕〔http://www.gainesville.com/article/20101113/ARTICLES/101119698/1109/sports?Title=Changes-come-to-area-TV-sets〕 Earlier in 2014, the 5:30 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts were cut, leaving just the 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. news for both WNBW and WGFL. WMYG no longer airs any newscasts.〔(Lots of changes within the Gainesville market that I didn't know about... ) ''The Changing Newscasts Blog'', September 13th, 2014.〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「GTN News」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
